PBS has been operating as a trade school since 1968, making it one of the longest-running bartending programs in the country. The 40-hour curriculum is state certified and includes national alcohol management credentials. It is designed to be fast, affordable, and directly connected to employment.
The school is located at 2440 Wilson Blvd, Arlington, Virginia - about one mile outside Washington DC and two blocks from the Courthouse Metro station on the Orange and Silver Lines. For students coming from across the DC metro area, it is one of the most accessible training locations in the region. The program emphasizes hands-on practice from day one, with placement assistance that continues after graduation.
The schedule is built for flexibility, with six different options to fit virtually any lifestyle: One Week Intensive Day (Monday through Friday, 9 to 5:30), One Week Intensive Evening (Monday through Friday, 1:30 to 10), Two Weeks Morning (Monday through Friday, 9 to 1), Two Weeks Afternoon (Monday through Friday, 1:30 to 5:30), Two Weeks Evening (Monday through Friday, 6 to 10), and Five Saturdays (9 to 5). Students can complete the full course in as little as one week and begin working almost immediately.
What sets PBS apart from longer trade programs is the time-to-employment ratio. For people who need to start earning quickly - whether they are between jobs, supplementing existing income, or pivoting careers - that speed matters.
